The Sonic Story describes a peaceful Village Scene with its residents awaiting the return of a Hero who has saved the Village from imminent doom from the dark forces of Mephistopheles, the Demon terrorising the Villagers. Dionach translates as 'providing protection from Danger'. The scene is set in the Village Marketplace. Buskers are playing, Villagers are selling their goods and everyone is awaiting the return of the Hero who has save the Village once again. Dionach retains its reputation as the safest Village in all the Shire. The piece opens with a joyful and carefree rhythmic motif on strings, followed by a joyous tune on Whistle. This theme is echoed by Strings. A solo Fiddle player plays a lively melody to rouse the Village into a joyous and happy celebration as they await the Hero walking through the Village gates. A female choir softly hums as the crowd stands up. They can see the Hero coming down the path with the slain demons head. The music builds with joyous sounds of a drum beat. Bold brass and String Chords and sonorous melodies rise in pitch and dynamics as the Villagers greet the Hero walking through the gates. As the celebrations continue into the evening, the hero finds a grassy knoll to sit, rest and smoke a pipe as he falls asleep to the sounds of the Whistle tune in the distance. The night fades away as the Village is once again safe and at peace.
